1. Who we are

SenseCalc (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at sensecalc.netlify.app. We provide free UK calculators for information purposes. This policy explains how we handle personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What data we collect

Calculator inputs

All calculator inputs you enter (salaries, hours, dates, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, store or log any figures you enter into any calculator. No calculation data ever leaves your device.

Newsletter sign-up

If you subscribe to our rate update alerts, we collect your email address only. Your email is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, time on page and approximate location (country/city level). No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. IP addresses are anonymised. You can opt out via your browser's privacy settings or a GA4 opt-out extension.

Contact enquiries

If you contact us via the contact form or email, we retain your name and email address only for the purpose of responding to your enquiry. We delete contact records within 12 months.

SenseCalc uses the following cookies:

Note: the advertising cookies in the last row are not currently set. They apply only once Google AdSense advertising is switched on, and only where consent has been given via our consent mechanism beforehand (see section 4, Advertising).

Analytics cookies only load after you accept the cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies does not affect the functionality of any calculator.

4. Advertising & Google AdSense

We intend to use Google AdSense to display advertising on this site. If and when advertising is enabled:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), cookies used for personalised advertising are only set after you have been asked for consent through our consent mechanism, before any advertising is loaded. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time.
• Where consent for personalised advertising is not given, we may show non-personalised ads (ads served on the basis of context such as the page content, without advertising cookies used for profiling).

You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time via Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

5. Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, our legal bases are:

• Legitimate interests: anonymous analytics to improve the site (legitimate interests is never relied on for advertising cookies; personalised-advertising cookies are set only with consent, see section 4)
• Consent: newsletter sign-up (you can withdraw at any time)
• Contract: responding to contact enquiries you initiate

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent at any time (for newsletter: unsubscribe link in every email; for ad personalisation: Google Ads Settings)
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:

• Google Analytics 4: analytics.google.com/analytics
• Netlify: netlify.com (website hosting)
• Cloudflare: cloudflare.com (CDN and DNS)
• Google AdSense: google.com/adsense (advertising, only if/when enabled, see section 4)

8. Data retention

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact enquiry data is deleted within 12 months. Anonymous analytics data is retained for 26 months per Google Analytics defaults.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
